A unique regeneration partnership, launched in Liverpool, has created 200 new jobs - with over 100 going to the long-term unemployed, single parents and workers who have been made redundant.
The Deysbrook Partnership programme involved over 20 different agencies, led by JET Eastern Link along with the Eastern Link Neighbourhood Services, Liverpool Community College, Adult Learning Service, Jobcentre Plus and Tesco.
The jobs were created at the new 36,000 sq foot Tesco superstore on Deysbrook Lane, West Derby on the site of the former Deysbrook Barracks, once the biggest barracks in Liverpool.
Tesco, working alongside city agencies are committed to generating jobs where they are needed most, removing barriers to work and also supporting healthy living.
Over 400 people in the Deysbrook and Dovecot area attended special open days as part of the recruitment programme meeting multiple agencies, led by JET, and talking to staff about recruitment, lifestyle and employment issues.
Over 200 people attended Interview Techniques seminars and went on to be interviewed for the 100 positions available.
The training programme was devised to enhance and improve confidence and self esteem, building and creating a team ethic which enhances employability and promotes the ethos and high qualities that employers like Tesco require.
This instils a high regard for excellence in customer care and service which will stay with the candidates through out their career.
