To support the grand opening (2nd phase) of Liverpool One, Shop for Jobs and Jobcentre Plus worked together to encourage the new restaurants that were opening on 30th September to offer guaranteed interviews to our priority clients.
We were able to sign up 5 prestigious employers who agreed to become Local Employer Partnership Employers and all offered guaranteed interviews.
The Academy of Excellence devised two training courses to be delivered by The Adult Learning Service to support Shop for Jobs clients who were interested in working within the catering/hospitality sectors.
25 clients were invited to attend each course. 15 clients attended a 6 day routeway course and 11 clients attended a 2 day course funded via Shop for Jobs. The courses were designed to improve customer service skills and interview skills.
At the end of the courses each learner was given interviews with the employer of their choice. To date 15 clients have been successful in finding employment from the guaranteed interviews. All the learners were from disadvantaged groups please see breakdown below:
- lone parents in receipt of income support - 2
- clients on incapacity benefit - 3
- ex offenders - 3
- people over 50 - 3.
- people claiming JSA over 6 months - 5.
- people claiming JSA under 6 months - 3.
- People from BRM communities - 3.
All the employers were impressed by the standard of applicants who had attended the training courses and were pleased to offer them jobs. The employers involved were Debenhams, Nandos, Barburittos, Wagamamas and Zizzi.
