Liverpool In Work have just completed the first Fire Support Work Placement initiative. This provided work experience for 9 Work Programme customers who were looking to improve their employability skills.
Merseyside Fire Support network have teamed up with Liverpool in Work, offering work placement opportunities. These placements are for 3 weeks and are under 16 hours per week. The placement job roles within the service included HFSC Installers, who install smoke alarms and perform a home fire safety check in properties within Merseyside, working alongside a qualified Installer.
As a result of our first cohort of 9 placements, 2 people have gone into employment - a fantastic outcome!
"The placement was brilliant. It really gave me the confidence and belief that there was a job out there for me. It just goes to show, if you really want something, you can get it if you work hard enough for it". Work Programme customer
Lauren Mitchell from the Fire Support Network said "The people who came to us via Liverpool in Work were one of the best cohorts we've had. They showed commitment and enthusiasm, turned up on time, and really enjoyed the time they spent with us. We would have no hesitation in working with Liverpool in Work in the future - in fact, we have just held our second open day and 11 people will be placed week commencing 20th February 2012."
Lynne Debbazi, Liverpool in Work Business Team says, "Well done to all who took part in this initiative! We are really impressed with the partnership and hope to have more success in the future, ensuring we give long term unemployed local residents the opportunity in gaining employability skills which will lead to them getting a job."
