Success Story
Who
Colette went from redundacy to a new career with the help of Liverpool In Work.
How did it happen?
Glyn Gates became Colette's Guidance Officer, helping her with searching for a job and providing her with advice on how to apply for work and prepare properly for interviews. Glyn also liaised with the Liverpool in Work Business Team, who provide up to date information on current and future vacancies and who work with employers in the Liverpool area to promote the City's unemployed residents. What they say
Colette says "After working for the same company for many years, I was made redundant. I hadn't had an interview in a long time and was feeling very daunted at the prospect of looking for new employment.
I registered with Liverpool in Work, and my Guidance Officer Glyn gave me valuable advice and assistance with preparing my CV, on how best to complete application forms and on preparing for interviews. Glyn put me in touch with Liverpool in Work's Business Team who looked at my CV, listened to my interests and put me forward to a number of their business contacts.
After only a matter of weeks, I was put in touch with Westdale Housing Services who were looking for staff to provide advice to their tenants and residents. My skills and experience matched their requirements and after sending them my CV I was offered an interview the following week.
I was nervous before the interview, but I prepared well for it and am now very pleased to say they offered me a job.
I am really enjoying my new job and would definitely recommend Liverpool in Work to anyone who is looking for work as I found their advice & support invaluable".
